Calgary, located on the traditional lands of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Kainai, Piikani, Siksika) in the foothills of the beautiful Rocky Mountains (Banff is less than a 1.5 hour drive), is home to 1,200,000 people, making it the largest city in Alberta and the fifth-largest metropolitan area in Canada.
Weather in May is usually sunny and seasonable, with an average daily high of 16 degrees Celsius and a low of 3 degrees Celsius (though Calgary is infamous for having unpredictable weather, so be prepared!).
